Meet Bobbi Horner, MIMC’s New Holistic Dietician

by | Dec 9, 2020 | Nutrition

2020 has been a whopper of a year, from COVID to Dr. Cassie’s first baby. The ups and downs have made us even more glad to have the support of our team at Minneapolis Integrative Medicine.

And that’s why we’re EXPANDING. In the last year, we’ve brought on Dr. Danielle Vogler-Bos and Nurse Practitioner Jenikka Tomashek to provide even more holistic, integrative care to our patients. But there’s been a bit of a hole that we’ve been waiting to fill.

Meet Bobbi Horner, registered and licensed dietician (RD, LD). She’s joining MIMC to better support our patients’ nutrition needs. Bobbi brings her three bachelors degrees in dietetics, community nutrition, and exercise science to MIMC, and to our team. Keep reading to learn more about how Bobbi can help you!

Meet Bobbi Horner, RDN, LD

Bobbi has a background in personal training, and understands how food, and movement are foundational to a well functioning body. As an avid athlete growing up, Bobbi noticed that how she fueled her body made almost more of a difference than all the hard work she was putting in at practice. She started studying nutrition and fell in love with it.

She says, “The human body is so amazing and to see how the food you eat can react in positive and negative ways in regards to  helping the body to heal and support it to function at its optimal level.”

Bobbi has extensive experience in all different areas of dietetics, from hospital settings and wellness/athletics settings to functional medicine clinics. She’s also a member of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals, which helps her understands the relationship between nourishing your body without being restrictive. Bobbi will be a phenomenal resource to help patients who may need an extra layer of support when it comes to nutrition.

What makes you excited about MIMC?

I am very excited to work in a team environment where we can build a relationship with our patients. MIMC’s practitioners truly listen to you and find the root cause of what’s causing your health issues to give each patient an individualized approach to their health.

(Note from Dr. Cassie: Bobbi is great at this too! She knows how to take the information from functional tests and customize a plan for a person based on that.)

Why integrative/holistic health?

It finds the root cause of your health issues and helps the body to heal in a natural way. Why not?

How will you and the MIMC team work together to support patients?

Note from Dr. Cassie: Bobbi has experience with functional lab testing, including stool, hormone, and food allergy testing. Plus, she’s great at integrating those results with a personalized plan for each patient. She’ll integrate really well with the whole team because of this!

What are you excited about working with patients on?

I love educating patients about nutrition/food. I do not believe there is a one-diet-fits-all approach to nutrition. Everyone’s body is different and therefore needs a different nutrition plan. I like helping patients find what works best for them.

You can also see me for:

  • Gut health—gut health is the key to our overall health!
  • Weight loss/body composition changes
  • Food sensitivities
  • Adrenal fatigue/thyroid issues
  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Improved performance
  • Improved mental health
  • Improved general health

What’s your favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning?

Wake up with the sun rise and get a great workout in and then get out and enjoy the outdoors with a walk around the lake.

What are the first three things you do when you get home from work?

  1. Head out for a walk or workout if the weather is nice.
  2. Clean up the mess I left from the morning.
  3. Cook dinner.

Comfort food?

I love french fries. 🙂

Food you’d never eat

Oysters or mussels.

If you won the Power Ball tomorrow, what are the first two things you would do? (After, of course, donating the majority of it to your top charities…)

I would book a trip to Italy! And then buy a beachfront property down south with a boat where I could spend the winters.

What else should patients know about you?

I have a true passion for nutrition and helping patients find the right balance in their life nutritionally.

Interested in booking with Bobbi? She’ll be officially taking patients January 4, 2021, but you can book online with her now!
